The Social Progress index measures how all 384 metropolitan areas have advanced or regressed in social progress for 2018 and 2023.
The OC Equity Map, developed for the county’s health agency, harnesses the Social Progress Index framework to monitor the social determinants of health, crime, and other disparities within neighborhoods across Orange County, California.
Using its OC Equity Map, developed with the Social Progress Index and integrated with school district data, Advance OC analyzed how students' academic success interconnects with conditions in their built environment.

The Social Progress Index for all 384 metropolitan areas was built in collaboration between the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City and the Social Progress Imperative. The index measures how the metropolitan areas have advanced or regressed in social progress for 2018 and 2023.
